Timing
When it's needed
Whenever movement correlates with wet weather, a leaking pipe, a new landscaping scheme or a large tree, either its planting or its removal. Drainage correction is also the standard companion scope to any stabilisation work, because it protects the investment in the structural repair.
Sudden large cracks, walls visibly out of plumb, or masonry that sounds hollow and drummy overhead can indicate unstable structure. Keep people away from affected areas, avoid slamming doors in distressed walls, and seek urgent engineering advice rather than waiting for a routine appointment.
