Footing stabilisation

Progressive movement that continues after moisture drivers are corrected, footings undermined by erosion or excavation, or an engineer's report that identifies inadequate founding. Partial-depth solutions suit many houses; where wholesale strengthening is specified, that becomes an underpinning project in its own right.
Sudden large cracks, walls visibly out of plumb, or masonry that sounds hollow and drummy overhead can indicate unstable structure. Keep people away from affected areas, avoid slamming doors in distressed walls, and seek urgent engineering advice rather than waiting for a routine appointment.
